The Five Ten Freerider Pro Mid Vcs is a mid-cut mountain biking shoe for intense enduro and downhill tours in cold and wet conditions. Whether technically demanding rocky trails or jumps, with this shoe you will master every trail. It combines the legendary grip of the classic Freerider with reinforced toe protection, medium height shank and D30 padding in the ankle area for additional protection.
The Stealth® S1 rubber outsole with Dotty tread also guarantees optimum grip on wet, slippery surfaces and pedals.
Five Ten has launched a couple of brand new shoes this autumn season. One of them is the Freerider Pro Mid VCS. In my eyes, this shoe is not exactly a contender for the next beauty contest; the Velcro fasteners alone took me a while to get used to in terms of looks. The extra-high back part to keep out moisture and dirt also takes a bit of getting used to. However, during the test, the shoe really impressed me! Contrary to my expectations, you can slip into it easily and will instantly have a pleasantly secure feeling. The D3O padding on the inner ankle certainly helps to ensure that latter point. And the Velcro fasteners are great for the simple reason that you no longer have to worry about annoying laces. The fit is the same as that of the well-known other Five Ten models. Likewise the Stealth® S1 rubber outsole – so the grip on the pedal is top. The last can definitely be described as unisex. On my home trails and in the bike park, my feet remained dry all the time, but then again, it didn’t rain in torrents. And should you have to push your MTB up some leafy section in the forest for whatever reason, no unwelcome dirt will get into your shoes. A very valuable addition to my MTB shoe collection. Highly recommended. Judith, product management
